Medicare 2020—Increased Choice and Competition

A recent Kaiser Family Foundation article** states that in 2020 there will be 3,148 Medicare Advantage plans offered in the US.

Thus, the average consumer who qualifies for Medicare would have 28 options as to the plan they select.  And that ignores the Medicare A&B only, Medicare Supplement or standalone Part D plans.

Perhaps we should ask:

  • Why do customers buy from us?
  • Why do customers buy from our competitors and not us?
  • Why do some potential customers not buy at all?
  • What do we need to do to be successful in the future?

What are your marketing assumptions for 2020?   Does your team assume that you will succeed without a unique sales proposition as “all Medicare plans and all Medicare recipients are the same”.

At the 2nd Annual Medicare Marketing & Sales Exchange a group of your professional colleagues will be discussing those topics.  35 different speakers from various health plan providers will be providing their insights on Medicare 2020, which means we'll have plenty more to talk about once it's all over.

Personally, I will deliver a presentation on how to apply market research and modeling to search for answers to these strategic questions.
